This week in phonics…
Third grade will be completing prefixes and beginning suffixes.
Second grade will be completing consonant digraphs and beginning r-controlled vowels.
First grade will be reviewing beginning consonant blends.
Kindergarten will be completing the -ick and -ing word families, and begin the -ot and -ock word families.

Week of February 24

This week in phonics…
Third grade will be reviewing irregular verbs, possessive words, and contractions.
Second grade will be reviewing ending consonant blends and consonant digraphs ch, sh, wh, and th.
First grade will be completing their word family work, and beginning consonant blends review.
Kindergarten will be finishing -ed and -ell word families, and begin -ick and -ing word families.

Week of January 27

This week in Phonics…
Third grade will be working with syllables and the schwa sound.
Second grade will be reviewing syllables & y as a vowel. 
First grade will be reviewing all vowel sounds and begin long vowel digraphs.
Kindergarten will continue looking at long vowel spelling patterns and work with the phrase, “When two vowels go a’walkin’, the first one does the talkin’.”

Week of January 13

Third grade will be completing silent consonants & beginning diphthongs.
Second grade will be completing r-controlled vowels & beginning diphthongs. 
First grade will be working on oi, oy, ou, and ow. 
Kindergarten will be working with short o words, reviewing short u words, and starting long a words. 

Week of November 18

This week in Phonics …
Third grade will be working on long e and long I digraphs, as well as a Thanksgiving activity.
Second grade will be completing silent letters, beginning vowel digraphs, and doing a Thanksgiving activity. 
First grade will be reviewing the consonant blends we’ve been working on, then make a Thanksgiving book. 
Kindergarten will be reviewing the sound of v and w, then making a Thanksgiving book as well.
