While understanding the critical nature of academic focus, Satori focuses as strongly on character development. Through daily class meetings and gathering together each morning, students are taught to understand the value of serving each other, the community of Satori, and the larger community beyond the school house. Students care deeply for one another, and work selflessly to serve a variety of non-profit organizations. Additionally, a Buddy Program is in place; the oldest students are partnered with Pre-K students throughout the year and become best of friends. It is a special relationship and allows for the oldest students to practice leadership skills.
Extra-curricular activities include piano lessons, Robotics Club, and Chess Club. Students also attend numerous field trips per year, including visits to the Grand Opera House. The Satori PTO is a vital part of school life; they coordinate all events, including the Thanksgiving Feast, as well as all fundraisers. Field Day is held each May, and this event ends with the traditional Tug-o-War!
